2010 Mountaineering Expedition and Ice Climbing Seminar dates just announced.
Earth Treks Columbia Expansion: Earth Treks is thrilled to announce the impending expansion of Earth Treks’ Columbia. Earth Treks’ first climbing gym will be undergoing a major expansion and facelift, adding 3500 sq. feet of floor space (that’s a 70% increase!). The expanded facility will boast a huge bouldering area, new top rope and lead terrain, and a fitness center featuring cardio and strength training equipment. The existing climbing areas will also get some love with new padding and a re-texturing of many of the walls. The construction should start as soon as we have access and be wrapping up in about 4 months. Since most of the work will take place in the “new space” it will not interfere with the normal climbing scene until the very end of the process. The Columbia gym will remain open during construction.
NOTE: as of August 17th, 2009, the Columbia bouldering cave will be closed as part of the gym expansion. The cave will reopen, with the new wall, when construction is complete.

Earth Treks Timonium Expansion: New top rope and lead climbing terrain has been added to Earth Treks Timonium! The new climbing walls are over 35′ high, full of fun features, and focused on moderate (aka not too steep) terrain. A dozen new top rope climbing stations were created with the expansion. We added an amazing 5.10 hand to fingers crack, a chimney, slabs, all sorts of twisted arêtes and small overhangs. The Timonium gym now has about 20,000 square feet of climbing.
Check out the pictures to see how the wall was built and what the finished addition looks like. Click here for images of construction progress and the finish wall.
