Core Strength for Climbers

It’s true that the arm bone is connected to the shoulder bone, but how is the shoulder bone connected to the hip bone?  Through the core!  We’ll discuss how core strength requirements for rock climbers differ from those of other athletes, and learn exercises that will improve your ability to move through steep rock.

Bouldering getting bland? In this clinic you will learn some fun bouldering games to play with your buds. We will conclude the clinic with a bouldering golf tournament for all skill levels. Winners will win glamorous prizes such as chalk!

Well guess again, as a rock climber you should know how to ascend a fixed line for safety’s sake. We’ll show you everything you need to know about setting up and ascending a fixed line.

Following Sport Routes and Retrieving Your Gear*

A tutorial in preparation for climbing outside (this fall). Learn to recognize common outdoor anchor setups and the best methods for safely removing your gear and getting yourself back to the ground in one piece. We’ll also demonstrate some of the dangerous mistakes that you should avoid at all costs! *Please pre-register at the front desk.

Building Climbing Endurance

Cool breezes, budding leaves, and biting sandstone, the spring climbing season is only a few months away. Building climbing endurance is essential for sending that pesky route with the crux 60 feet up. We’ll discuss different workouts and exercises designed to increase your endurance.
