Team tryouts are held in August of each year prior to the start of the new competition season. Tryouts are free, however prospective team members are required to pre-register to attend. Registration for tryouts will open June 1st.
Everyone must tryout, regardless of prior participation in a team. Additional tryouts may be held in February for prospective new team members, space permitting.
Registration will be available here each August for athletes who are invited to join Team ET after completing a successful tryout. Registration is only open to athletes who have been invited to join team.
In the meantime, please feel free to review our parent handbook to help prepare for the upcoming season.
Every participant and coach is choosing to be part of a team with a common mission to develop high performing climbing athletes in a way that emphasizes fun, fosters a love of the sport, and supports each team member’s personal development and growth. Download the Parent Handbook for more details.
There is no fee to register for a tryout. In an effort to ensure that tryout sessions are efficient and manageable strict limits will be maintained for all tryout sessions, and will range from 30 to 40 participants max.
What are the performance requirements for team?
We are looking for highly motivated and focused climbers who are seeking a team environment where they can pursue their personal climbing goals. Team Earth Treks will focus on hard work, strength, flexibility, mental toughness, and strategy. We will train hard during practice and come in on our own to continue training. While participation in USA Climbing competitions is not mandatory, we will also travel to local gyms to compete.
Participants will be invited based on their commitment and attitude towards training and improving their climbing, as well as their technical performance. Registration for this program will occur after tryout results are posted.
When are tryouts?
Tryouts are hosted in August each year.
Online pre-registration for tryouts is mandatory for all participants. Tryouts are exclusively bouldering based. There will be a brief parent’s meeting at the start of each tryout, please plan on staying at least 15 minutes.
What is the parent's role?
Please review the Parent Handbook & Team Code of Conduct carefully before completing your registration. Also note that there is a mandatory parent meeting to cover these materials. Parent meetings will take place in September, dates to be emailed to the Team.
Every participant and coach is choosing to be part of a team with a common mission to develop high performing climbing athletes in a way that emphasizes fun, fosters a love of the sport, and supports each team member’s personal development and growth. The Code of Conduct spells out the manner in which we’ll achieve the team’s mission and lays out expectations for both coaches and team members. If at any time a parent, coach, or team member has a concern about the well being of a team member, we encourage them to reach out to the Youth Protection Committee.
What is the team member & coaches code of conduct?
Team dues are charged automatically on a monthly basis, September thru June. The first month of billing includes an added start up fee. For a breakdown of fees, team policies, and other important details for parents, please refer to the Handbook.
